Object description :

"Large Armorie Pewter Dish (pewter) - Bordeaux Circa 1700"
Very large round pewter platter called "venison", strongly molded edge and movement, engraved in the center with an armorial motif surmounted by a plumed helmet, with a torn palm tree and two climbing lion cubs (?), with a rooster on the head awarded two stars.
Control hallmark with crowned webbed F.
Unpublished hallmark attributed to Jean BEGUE or Jean BLAIN received masters respectively in 1679 and 1683: /…/ ANTIMOINE / swan (?) / IB Engraved property mark: ALARY
Property affixed to the wing: Cursive monogram.
Diameter: 53.5cm.
BORDEAUX, End of the 17th or very beginning of the 18th century


Extremely rare, very large
A few cracks and splits in the peripheral molding all visible in the photographs.
This dish has probably never been scrubbed and therefore has a natural dark patina.
