"Pond Shores In Autumn - E. Wegelin - 20th Century"
Shoreline of pond in winter.The scene is dominated by the russet hues of winter vegetation. The purple silhouettes of tall trees stand out against a cloudy sky. The still water is rendered in a leaden grey. The whole is sweet without being sad.
The work is not signed. Nevertheless, we find on the back the mention “Sale workshop Wegelin – September 24, 1989”. Painting dated April 1932, inventory number: 19

Emile Wegelin is a well-known painter from the Lyon school, who painted from nature, on the ground. A tireless traveller, he criss-crossed Europe, always in search of new horizons.
He exhibited regularly at the Spring Salon of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts, where he won first prize in 1930. He also had numerous personal exhibitions in Lyon and Switzerland.
Wegelin's works have been the subject of numerous public sales in France.
