Large baroque style niche in gilded wood dating from the 19th century.
superb work of carved and gilded wood with architectural decoration.
this niche is very decorative and offers many sculpted elements:
floral decorations, foliage, fire pots, angel's head on a wide stepped facade giving an illusion of depth.
one has the feeling of being placed in front of a baroque altar in miniature so much the work is meticulous and of high quality.
there is almost no lack or restoration.
only a small cornice return is missing at the bottom right, visible in the photos.
the red velvet dates from the 20th century of course. the gilding is slightly tired simply by the wear of time. a very beautiful presentation niche, like a private altar ideal for presenting and showcasing a statue, a beautiful object etc...
