"Scallops: Romantic Centenary..."
Romantic scene: a beautiful artist has certainly made a stay by the sea. She brought back a dish, in the shape of a scallop shell, in papier-mâché.... Then she diverted its use by using this pocket under empty as a support for his painting. She painted a soft and romantic scene where a beautiful young woman fills her basket with delicately picked roses... I allow myself an anachronism by comparing this scene from the Napoleon III period with the romantic gallants of Watteau much earlier. A few traces of flies dot the object to be cleaned.
