"Gres Mug - Wroclaw (poland), 18th Century"
CHOPE earthenware baluster with brown-red enamel and relief decoration of oblique ribs underlined by a frieze of small cabochons. The pewter lid bears the mark of a pewter potter from Breslau (today WROCLAW in Poland): star / CGS and the city mark at W. It is dated in engraving from 1786. Spherical thumb.
Height: 24cm.
WROCLAW (Region of) (Poland), Second half of the 18th century
Very good condition
The potters entrusted the manufacture of strappings and covers to pewter potters, generally local, who often affixed their marks to them. The latter thus helps to confirm the place and the dating of the potter's activity.
