"Satyrical Sculpture "little Commis De Cuisine Attracting A Cat ..." By Georges Maxim Circa 1930"
Satyrical subject little treated in sculpture of a young kitchen clerk trying to attract a cat, a bait in the hand, in the other a stick to knock it out and make the small one (in the pot against which the cat rubs). The restaurants did not all have a good reputation for the origin of their products at the beginning of the century..., hence this satirical and caricatural subject. The sculptor George MAXIM (1885-1940) made other sculptures classic (allegory, craftsman, peasants ...) or art deco (woman and greyhound, spear hunter ...) a diverse and varied production. The small clerk's pot can be used as a container for matches. The subject is of good size and is in good condition.
