Slightly concave in shape, the backrest is topped with an elegant frieze in gilded mahogany echoing the architecture of ancient temples. It presents in its center a chiseled and gilded bronze allegory of two women dressed in the antique style holding a banner, flanked by two chiseled and gilded bronze palmettes, the rectilinear belt decorated with palmettes at each end and a rosette from which other palmettes emerge symmetrically.
The whole rests on seven feet, including four front ones with balusters with gilded wood rings, those present at both ends being crowned with a capital of acanthus leaves in gilded mahogany and attached to the armrest supports which have significant palmettes in gilded wood wrapped in their top, sabre-shaped hind feet.
Mahogany, mahogany veneer, gilded mahogany.
