"Gilt Bronze Bust Signed Gustave Van Vaerenbergh"
Pretty gilded bronze representing the bust of an elegant woman placed on a white marble terrace with gray veins. Very good general condition Length: 18 cm width: 11 cm Height: 18 cm Gustave VAN VAERENBERGH is an artist born in Belgium in 1873 and died in 1927 He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent from 1888 to 1890 He married Jeannette VAN HOORDE on June 27, 1900. He then left Ghent on June 7, 1901 for Saint Josse. He then lived at rue Verte 111 where he was employed as a “plaster moulder”. In 1907 Gustave Van Vaerenbergh was appointed as a sculptor. He worked for the Carli et Frères establishments, rue de l'Olivier in Schaerbeek until 1925. He would then have had his own workshop in Ixelles He mainly created Art Nouveau style busts but also children, Pierrot, animals , … on different supports: marble, bronze, spelter, terracotta.
