In porcelain, the Chinese phoenix or Fenghuang. The proud bird, deep red, stands on a rock. Appearing in Chinese mythology for around 7,000 years, it is very positively associated with virtue and grace. Fenghuang also symbolizes the combination of yin and yang. It appears during times of peace and happiness, and hides when danger is imminent. Associated with the Chinese dragon, it symbolizes the imperial couple, today also the married couple, and its image is sometimes included in wedding decorations.
