Amida Buddha seated in lotus position. With his hands, he performs the Dhajana Mudra gesture in the Japanese variation of Mida no Jōin. The right hand symbolizes enlightenment and the left hand the world of illusion, and refers to the historical Buddha's meditation under the Bodhi tree.

Satsuma ceramic, hand painted and gilded.

Japan, Meiji/Taisho era, early 20th century.

Height 28.5 cm, length 16 cm, width 16 cm.
