"Fireplace Plate With The Arms Of The Dudon Family Of Boynet (58x71 Cm)"
Fireback, with arched top, dating from the 18th century, with the arms of the Dudon family belonging to the nobility of Bordeaux dress and ancient extraction. These coats of arms can be attributed to Pierre Dudon de Boynet (1674-?), attorney general and advisor to the parliament of Bordeaux, married for the second time to Louise-Léonor Le Comte de La Tresne in 1704 or more probably their son Jean-Baptiste, Pierre, Jules Dudon de Boynet (1717-1800), knight, baron de Boynet, lord of Treulon, Lassalle and Macannan, married to Cécile des Nanots in 1747. Pierre, the father, was ennobled by his office as advisor, a very distinguished magistrate he obtained by letters patent of 1721, the erection into a barony of its lordship of Boynet. Jean-Baptiste, Pierre, Jules, the son, succeeded his father in his office of attorney general, appointed attorney general of the parliament of Bordeaux, a position he retained until the suppression of the parliament in 1790. He was imprisoned in 1792 and thanks to his son Joseph, lawyer, who defended him before the revolutionary tribunal, he escaped the guillotine. Edouard Féret describes the coat of arms of JBPJ, the son, between 1878 and 1889, in his terms: “his coat of arms bore the attributes of faith, hope and charity (silver on azure field)” Château Dudon , located in Barsac, built in the 16th century, was the property of Bernard Dudon de Boynet and his son Blaise in 1655. In 1789, Pierre, the father, bequeathed the castle to Jean-Baptiste, Pierre, Jules his son. Pierre Nicolas de Pichard acquired it, then in 1868 Bernard Gaussem and then the Balayé family resided there. In the 1930s and for 60 years the castle was abandoned. The current owners Michel and Evelyne Allien have rehabilitated it since 1988. A chartreuse, built in the 18th century by Jean-Baptiste, Pierre, Jules Dudon located in Baurech and the private mansion which owes its name to Pierre-Blaise (1642-1710 ), Sgr d'Artigaux and Treulon, lawyer in parliament, royal judge, d'Ambarès, and jurat of Bordeaux, rue Dudon, also bear their name. At Bellefontaine Castle in Baron, on the entrance porch, dated 1740, are sculpted the coats of arms of Jean-François, Pierre, Cécile Dudon and Françoise, Marguerite, Louisa, Georgina de Parouty, married in 1828, our last photo. Coat of arms: azure with an anchor (hope) silver accosted in chief with two stars and charged with a faith (joined hands) surmounted by a winged heart (charity), all silver. The coat of arms is surrounded by branches topped with a marquis crown, supporting two griphons resting on a pedestal. Its weight is 52 kg.
