KATANA GUARD called TSUBA
Japan, Edo period (1603-1868)
Sentoku, copper, zinc and lead alloy
H. 7.5 ; L. 7.2 mm
H. Nakago-ANA: 2.8 mm

Sentoku mokkogata tsuba decorated with applied bamboo leaves veined in shakudo, copper and brass - some with silver pastillage. 
An oar in gold-veined wood is applied to the left side of the main panel. It refers to a Japanese myth.
