"Large Empire Psyche Mirror"
Important Empire Psyche in Cuban mahogany in architectural form richly decorated with a large number of gilded bronzes. Quality work around 1850 presenting an oblong pivoting mirror with a beveled edge set in a mahogany frame highlighted with a bronze frieze with a heart-stripe motif, the upper part is decorated with a palmette pediment surrounded by griffins in the antique style, the whole is supported by two large round columns surmounted by an authentic and large imperial eagle in gilded bronze representing precisely "The Eagle of the gates of the Château des Tuileries" with outstretched wings and enclosing a thunderbolt, they respectively dominate the top of a top capital presenting a base punctuated by a frieze with cherub heads. The lower part is composed of two arched quadrangular legs resting on four imposing bronze sabots with a lion's claw pattern, they are joined by a spacer decorated with a neoclassical lyre flanked by a frieze with palmettes, the uprights in the shape of a pilaster are decorated with a quiver and a laurel wreath placed on each side.
