Biography:
Jean-Claude Faucon (Brussels 1939 - 2006), visual artist, painter and abstract Belgian sculptor, belongs to the Madi movement. He grew up with the example of his grandfather, who graduated from Arts et Métiers and drew plans for renowned architects, including Horta, leader of Art Nouveau in Belgium. He entered the Beaux-Arts in Brussels at the age of 16, then continued his training at Saint-Luc.
He is strongly influenced by Italian futurism like Balla, as well as by the geometric abstraction of the De Stijl movement (Mondrian, Théo van Doesberg).
His conception of abstraction also owes a lot to his meetings with Le Corbusier, during his vacation in Menton.

Madí is an artistic movement launched in 1946 in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Carmelo Arden-Quin, Rhod Rothfuss and Gyula Kosice through the creation of a group “Concrete Art-Invention”.
A new form of geometric art, MADI refuses the extreme orthogonality of the art of its contemporaries and opens itself to supports of all shapes, to polygonal and mobile paintings, advocates the freedom to use new materials, to invent new new forms which, through their eccentricity, will modify the relationship of the work to the wall, to use technical knowledge by introducing mobility into the wall and sculpted work. Abstract, optical, concert, constructed art...
Madi painting: Color and two-dimensionality, polygonal planar structure, curved, concave or convex surface. Articulated, removable surfaces, with linear, gyratory or translational movements.
Madi sculpture: Three-dimensionality of temporal value, solids with empty spaces and movements of articulation, rotation, translation. Crystal, plastics, steel wires... »
Let's also note Satoru Sato, André Stempfel, Gaël Bourmaud, Jaildo Marinho, Marika Száraz...
