André Biry-Autret, exhibited at the Société nationale des Beaux Arts in 1935 and 1936, where very early on, he was keen to represent scenes of Parisian life. Residing in Montmartre, he depicts a bustling and popular capital. Exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne, Comparison and French Artists, he won a gold medal in 1967.
Our paintings testify to the painter's quality in capturing moments of life. The hustle and bustle of the market is wonderfully depicted. In a dazzling palette, the paintings vibrate to the rhythm of the excitement of the Parisian markets.
