Born in 1918, it was in Algiers that Mahieddine Boutaleb (1918-1994) developed his artistic skills. He was a student of Omar Racim in 1931 at the school of indigenous arts in Algiers. He studied miniature in the prestigious school of illumination of the Racim brothers in the early 1940s. He was a decorator at the Sèvres factory between 1945 and 1978.
