Luc Belin was born on March 5, 1878 in Villeneuve les Avignon. He exhibited from 1913 to 1959 at the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux Arts. He received several prizes including the Bernhin de Villers prize in 1932. The painting was exhibited at the Lyon Society of Fine Arts in 1930. Luc Belin received at the end of this 43rd edition "the medal of honor" of the show for all of his work. The newspaper Le Salut Public reported on this in its edition of March 4, 1930: "The artists of the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts voted yesterday for the attribution of the medal of honor of the Salon. The vote designated M Luc Belin Everyone will applaud this choice, which comes to consecrate the merits of a conscientious artist who loves his art with fervor, whose works have long been rightly noticed.At the present Salon, he exhibited in particular an impressive canvas: "The banks of the Rhône (51) and the tower of Sainte-Colombe-lès-Vienne (52)."
