Peaceful rural scene, in a fresh and light style. A vast cloudy sky with touches of blue occupies the upper part of the work. A flowering tree clearly stands out in front of a church. We observe hens at the foot of the tree.

Eugène Galien-Laloue is a French painter and engraver born in Paris on December 11, 1854 and died in Chérence on April 18, 1941. He is famous for his Parisian urban landscapes. His work is also closely linked to the village landscapes of the Ile-de-France countryside. He painted landscapes of Normandy, Seine-et-Marne, Marseilles, Italy and Venice. The pictorial production of this artist, under his name or pseudonym, was plethoric. He painted under his name, but above all under various pseudonyms: Léon Dupuy, Eugène Dupuy, Juliany, Eugène Galiany, Jacques Liévin, Eugène Lemaitre, Maurice Lenoir, Dumoutier , A.Languinais…
Artist exhibited in France (Museums of Fine Arts of La Rochelle, Mulhouse, Reims) and in the United States (Huntington Museum of Art). The works of Galien-Laloue have been the subject of numerous public sales.
