Superb and very important painting from the 18th century. Originally, it was supposed to be a door top. Oil on canvas representing a genre scene, two couples of young people are courting, one with the music lesson, the second with the fishing lesson in a pastoral environment between greenery and river. In the river, miniature ships. The treatment is quite naive as are the paintings of this period. Original frame in gilded wood (lack of gilding in places) reinforced with more recent pieces of wood to consolidate the whole. Very decorative painting and rare in its size. Italy, mid-18th century.
