China 18th
Kangxi Period (1661-1722)
Diameter: 23.5cm
Similar and more common models are known, painted in Famille Verte enamels, and often of a larger diameter (24.5). If the dating of these plates inevitably tends towards the Kangxi period, dating them from the Yongzheng period would not be absurd, the flowers on the edge and the way in which the characters are depicted evokes a finesse that we will be able to see later under the Emperor Yongzheng. Moreover, similar scenes painted on octagonal dishes, which are therefore longer and wider, allow us to better appreciate the finesse of the line and the dating of these could be that of the period of the Yongzheng emperor. It would be wise to date these plates towards the end of the Kangxi period.
