Object description :

"Large Brass Monstrance - 19th Century"
Our monstrance is made of gilded brass. Its barrel is decorated with a Gothic style olive, radiating disc decorated with an enameled plaque, plaque on the base decorated with Christ and the Virgin Mary. Late 19th century period.
Note an inscription inside the base, mentioning "Castel D'Angouleme"
The blue enameled disc receives a Latin phrase in beautiful calligraphy: "Ecce panis angelorum, factus cibus viatorum", taken from the office of the Saint Sacrament written by Saint Thomas Aquinas and whose meaning is “Here is the bread of angels become the food of those who are on the way”.
Phrase which particularly suits the Eucharist. Good condition - restorations and small accidents - without lunula.
Height of 69 cm by 38 cm.
