Bronze sculpture with black patina Height: 40 cm. Presented on a blackened wooden base (total height: 58 cm) The famous hero of mythology, advances naked and bearded, his legs apart, his right arm above his head holding a club and his left arm extended towards the front. Attributed to Massimiliano Soldani Benzi (1656-1740) For those who know the works of John of Bologna (Giambologna), it will be easy to recognize in this sculpture a clear reference to the figure of “Hercules brandishing the club” (Bargello National Museum , Florence), which, according to specialists, is the bronze mentioned in the 1584 inventory of Grand Duke Ferdinand I de' Medici. As we know, the Florentine successors of the famous sculptor Giambologna reworked the master's inventions, moreover the workshop continued to produce after his death, taken over by his collaborators such as Pierre Taca or Antonio Susini.
