"Large Middle Table, Ferdinando Pogliani (milan 1832-1899), Circa 1870"
This middle table in ebony and engraved ivory is a work of Ferdinando Pogliani, Milan 1832-1899. It has a very large panel in the plateau which represents a procession of Roman knights. The model for this scene is an engraving from the year 1575 by Diana Montuana, also known as Diana Ghisi (Mantua 1535-1612). The engraving was also published by Carlo Losie in 1773. The table is richly decorated with bands of acanthus leaves, angels and vegetative relationships. In the corner there are oval plaques with miniature presentations. The entire structure with the low transom is decorated with a rich and similar decoration. In the center of the transom there is an octagonal baluster. Milan around 1870 HD photos will be available
