Born in June 1936 in Lyon, Jocelyne Antoine began painting at a young age. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and in the workshops of Raymond Legueult and Jean Aujame.
