"Joseph Ascoli (1847-1929), The Young Fisherman, Large Bronze 57 Cm With Brown Patina"
Large bronze sculpture with brown patina representing a young fisherman sitting on rocks, one leg on one knee, certainly holding a hook in his hand and between his legs a wooden pole. Very beautiful patina giving presence and relief to this sculpture. Little is known about Ascoli or Ascoly. Pierre Kjellberg's reference book "The bronzes of the 19th century", provides us with some details: "This student of Chapu is mentioned at the Salon from 1890 to 1909 with plaster statuettes such as: Little Ardennes Fisherman...." Our proof was surely made in bronze based on this plaster exhibited at the Salon. Period around 1900. Delivery 80 euros in France, 150 euros in the EU and 300 euros rest of the world.
