Fireback dated 1727, from the 18th century, in perfect condition, with the arms of the De Bonnay family from Franche-Comté near Besançon from the 12th century. These weapons can be attributed to Claude Joaquim de Bonnay (1689-1758), squire, knight of the military order of Saint-Louis and Lieutenant-Colonel of infantry in the Montmorin regiment, lord high justice of Villars Saint-Marcellin, whose Father Claude Joseph, squire, (1649-1724) had his coat of arms registered in the general armorial of 1696 in the Vesoul register, see our last photo. This senior branch remained established in Franche-Comté and owned, among other assets, the lordships of Trois-Bancs and Villars-Saint-Maizelin or Marcellin currently in Haute-Marne. Typically Franche-Comté fireback with a coat of arms presented in a cartouche topped with a knight's helm between two turned columns. Coat of arms: Or with three boar's heads sable 2 and 1.
