Louis RICHÉ (1877-1949) Polar bear. Patinated plaster, signed on the left rear leg. Note: Louis RICHÉ is a French animal sculptor. A student of Georges GARDET, he exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1896 at the age of nineteen, thus becoming the youngest artist represented at the Salon. With the exception of periods of war, he never stopped exhibiting at the Salon from which he received several gold medals. He collaborated with the Thiebault Frères foundry for his bronzes, with the goldsmith Risler et Carré for his silver pieces and also supplied subjects to the Sèvres factory.
