Jan Voss born October 9, 1936 in Hamburg, is a contemporary international artist. He is a painter, watercolorist, sculptor, ceramist and engraver.

He currently lives in France.

This beautiful and large original work is produced in color ink on Arche vellum. It is signed and dated 78 at the bottom right, the year in which it is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in the city of Paris.
The work is dedicated lower left.
Presented under glass, the dimensions outside the frame are 76 x 56 centimeters.
With the frame the dimensions: 100 x 80 centimeters

Biography

Jan Voss leaves the family home and finds himself in Turkey while hitchhiking. He will stay there for six months. His father subsequently sent him a train ticket for the return trip.
He then enrolled at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts where he studied from 1956 to 1960. It was the drawings he brought back from Turkey that allowed him to enter the academy competition.
In 1960, having obtained a scholarship to spend a year abroad, he chose to come and live in Paris. From 1960 to 1972, he exhibited regularly alongside other artists belonging to the Narrative Figuration group.
In 1964 he notably produced a series of drawings which he entitled La Vie parisienne and had his first personal exhibition in Paris at the Galerie du Fleuve. Based between Paris and Berlin, he taught from 1966 to 1967 at the Hamburg School of Fine Arts.

In 1987, he was appointed professor at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris where he taught until 1992.
