Japan, end of the Edo period (1603-1868), very pretty Samurai sword hilt "Tsuba" in shakudo, noble copper alloy containing 3 to 7% gold mainly used for its black-purple patina. lacquered appearance. This tsuba is delicately decorated on both sides with slightly different patterns of foliage and flowers with gold highlights on a background of small raised dots. Very good quality work.
Diameter 7.4 cm. Good condition except for slight wear due to age, without any impact on the beautiful aesthetic of this piece.
