Object description :

"Wolfers, Pair Of “wotan” Candelabras, 925 Sterling Silver, Brussels Universal Expo 1935"
Splendid and legendary pair of Art Deco "Wotan" candelabras created by Wolfers Frères around 1930. They were made in sterling silver (925%) and bear the master goldsmith's mark of the famous Wolfers high end  jewelry and goldsmith workshop. The Wolfers brothers were undoubtedly very proud of this creation because they chose this model of candelabra to decorate the table of the Pavilion of Honor at the Universal Exhibition in Brussels in 1935. They found themselves on either side of an imposing centerpiece by Philippe Wolfers. It is in this modernist building, filled with all the best that the Belgian artistic world had to offer, that Belgium received countless heads of state and other distinguished guests. Their name "Wotan" is borrowed from the supreme god and father of the Valkyries in "The Ring of the Nibelungen" by Richard Wagner. They date between 1942 and 1955. Their feet are weighted with a circular steel plate. They can be unscrewed into three parts for easy cleaning.
