"Rachitome Dissection Saw By Lollini, C. 1860"
Good copy of this dissection saw, called a rachitome, bearing the signature of the best Italian manufacturer of surgical instruments of the second half of the 19th century: the Lollini brothers, "F[ratel]le Lollini." A rachitome is an autopsy instrument with which the vertebral canal is opened without damaging the spinal cord. It was invented by Amussat and manufactured for the first time by Charrière. The instrument, without cracks and in perfect original condition, measures 29cm in length
