Born in Saint-Etienne where he studied at the Technical Engineering School of Sainte Barbe then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Saint-Etienne, he became a licensed architect in 1967.
He met Le Corbusier in 1967, who asked him to create a 60/70 centimeter model of the future church of Firminy-Vert.
Subsequently, he surrounded himself with competent collaborators, such as Jean-Marc Bonnard and André Arnaud, and created Form-Design, the first agency in Saint-Etienne dedicated to design in all its forms.
In 1970, he was the instigator of the Cité du Design.
In 1985 he won the Oscar for Design.
