"nimcha" Moroccan Saber 19th Century flag

Object description :

""nimcha" Moroccan Saber 19th Century"
This saber is typically Moroccan. The local name is "Nimcha" or "Nemcha". It dates from the 19th century. Like almost all sabers from this country, the blade is of Western origin.
The handle inlaid with mother-of-pearl and coral denotes superior workmanship
. BLADE: it is an imported blade, probably French, from the first half of the 19th century.
After a short ricasso of one centimeter, large hollow side, and narrow fuller near the back of the blade which begins 17 cm from the ricasso and continues until the false edge.
False edgeon the last 14 cm near the tip. The blade obviously shows some traces of oxidation visible in the photos.
Length of the blade 75 cm, width at the ricasso 2.7 cm, thickness at the ricasso = 0.65 cm
GUARD: this is the traditional iron guard of Moroccan sabers. it has 2 quillons ending with "fig" balls on the side of the back of the blade and a single quillon, also ending with a ball, on the edge side.
The guard branch is faceted, it continues to the end of the handle and ends like the quillons with a "fig-shaped" ball
GRIP : It is made of dark horn, with numerous brass inlays, coral and mother-of-pearl.
On the guard side we find a chiseled silver ferrule, and at the back of the handle, a cut silver plate to which the tang is riveted.
The quality of this weapon is clearly visible in the photos, it is an example of the know-how of the swordsmiths of the Sherifian Empire in the 19th century.
