"Painted Miniature Portrait Notable Man Oval Frame Work Hair 19th"
Hand-painted miniature representing the portrait of a man wearing a frock coat, most certainly a notable, in an oval frame with hair work on the back, from Manoir de la Psalette* in Tréguier (Brittany), vintage 19th century . This miniature is in good condition. Please note: slight dirt and wear over time, see photos. * La Psalette: A musical training center for children, La Psalette was founded in 1443 by Bishop Jean de Ploeuc to form the cathedral music corps, placed under the direction of the chapter. In the house which bears the name of Psalette, lived the master and his students. It was also within its walls that the entire cathedral music corps came to rehearse, which included, in addition to the choirboys and their master, the musicians and the chorister cantors. According to historiography, the Psalette was built on the grounds of a chapel, which has now disappeared, dedicated to Saint Ruélin, favorite disciple of Saint Tugdual and his successor to the episcopate of Tréguier. The current building could date back to the end of the 15th century or the beginning of the 16th century as evidenced by the spiral staircase tower, the fireplace in the primitive kitchen (current dining room) and that of the upstairs office. . After its sale in 1791, as national property, to Marc-Victor Boissin, the residence was the subject of a work campaign which aimed to give symmetry to the composition of the main facade overlooking the courtyard. [...] La Psalette was sold successively in 1803, in 1819 then in 1838 to Yves le Gac (notary) and Jeanne Le Goaster, whose current descendants are still owners. In the years 1810-1820, the acquisition of two new plots (627, 628) to the south-east made it possible to enlarge the garden in which a stable shed was built a few decades later.
