"Large Mannequin Doll In French Dress: 18th Century"
Exceptional 18th century mannequin doll wearing a French dress. This dress called the “Watteau dress” (French painter 1684/1721) in oilcloth is characterized by a back animated by a series of large flat pleats and a small train. The bodice is fitted to a triangle bust placed on the point and the hips are widened. The so-called pagoda sleeves are stopped at the elbow and decorated with 2 ruffles. The fabric is decorated with fabric and/or painted flowers and plants. The doll is wearing a small stylized capeline hat. The dress is reinforced with a blue lining. The girl's body (bust, arms, hand and head) is made of papier-mâché. It rests on a wooden tripod. Traces of wear and small losses. Unrestored. Very good condition of presentation.
