In France, André Maire has two workshops, one in Paris and one in Burgundy, in Semur en Auxois exactly. But it is the one in Burgundy that he prefers: he has a calm and regular life: in the morning he walks while drawing in search of the pattern, in the afternoon he paints in his studio and in the evening he reads. In these views of Semur, which date from the end of his life, between 1960 and 1984, we find the monumentality that these trips inspired in him.
