"Pair Of Art Deco “club” Armchairs"
I am offering for sale this spectacular pair of "club" armchairs in the Art Deco style and period circa 1925. It is a Belgian manufacture often attributed to the house of De Coene Frères in Courtrai. They come from the so-called “bolidist” current which, at the beginning of the 20th century, was fascinated by speed and its representation. Aesthetic movement taken up in 1986 in Bologna by Italian designers. I would like to highlight here, the work carried out by the craftsmen (cabinetmaker, polisher, upholsterer) in this restoration. Their work is simply wonderful. The wooden frames of the armchairs have been completely revised. The springs as well as the old-fashioned strapping are new and made in the traditional way. The buffer polishing is, given the age of these armchairs, a century all the same, dare we say it, almost perfect. The walnut of the armrests is a shimmering color. And what about the work of the saddler, truly magnificent! The leather, also new, is of very good quality. Its color, depending on the light, is a clever mix of anthracite gray and dark brown. Its finish is satiny, matte. The stitching is impeccable and the piping is beautifully sewn. In short, great art! The icing on the cake is that these armchairs are particularly comfortable. The seat is a little soft while still supporting you perfectly and the backrest offers you very pleasant support. In short, as you will have understood, I am particularly proud of this restoration and the quality of these armchairs, both aesthetically and functionally. All that remains is to let yourself be tempted!
