"Bronze Miners By Emile Carlier (1849-1927)"
Bronze sculpture of a miner with wheelbarrow and pickaxe signed Emile Carlier Emile Joseph Nestor Carlier (1849 - 1927) student of the Academies of Cambrai and Valenciennes then of Jouffroy, Cavalier and Chapu at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He debuted at the Salon in 1875, won a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, and received a medal of honor in Antwerp and Amsterdam. There are many bronzes representing allegories, genre scenes and busts. Many of these works appear in Museums in Bordeaux, Lyon, Cambrai and Paris at the Petit Palais and Palais Garnier.
