"Burgundy Stone Walls"
BURGUNDY STONE WALLS

The entire Burgundian basin, from lower Champagne in the North, from the Vosges in the East and to the South of the Côte d'Or, is full of quarries where the most beautiful limestones have been extracted since man built his home.
It is in the Châtillonnais in Côte d'Or - the aptly named - where the Seine flows, that the most beautiful stone veins from marine sediments deposited 150 million years ago were exploited.

The limestone of the Châtillonnais region has been exploited since Antiquity for local purposes. Each village has its own quarry for the stones for the walls of houses and fences, the paving of the floors and the lava for the roofs.

Beige, cream to ocher stone, dense and most often frost-resistant, of unparalleled finesse, sometimes shelled with fossils for the most beautiful effect, this material cut by centuries-old hands is perfect for any solid and durable construction.

Our careful dismantling of sometimes thousand-year-old buildings when they can no longer be repaired, ensures an endless source for all restoration or construction work using top-notch material. Manually sorted, this Burgundian stone is completely usable without loss during installation.

The two main advantages of this ancient stone are its size made by the sole hand of man in the past knowing how to handle the tool according to its characteristics without the use of random modern mechanical sawing and without talent, and the assurance of quarry extraction when it is not saturated with winter rainwater, often in summer, unlike modern exploitation which no longer pays attention to these details of another age!... Profitability requires!

We offer these rubble stones in big bags of 5 m2 for facing from stock and ready for installation to everyone who cares about traditional buildings.
With a thickness ranging from 3 to 4 cm to 20 to 25 cm, we provide all the beds necessary for a visual in the tradition of old construction.
Likewise and on request, Renaissance Concepts offers the corner stones so characteristic of Burgundian gables. These are not found in the modern market.

Our price of €350 per big-bag brings the m2 of supply to €70 per m2 ready to install.

We offer all information and advice on request.

We can direct you to teams of skilled installers with ancestral practices.

** A traditional wall is only built with lime and river sand! No question of crushing sand or petroleum cement! Except when necessity requires it, white cement can be mixed with lime in a reasonable proportion.
