Small ivory and ebony cabinet, northern Italy dating from the beginning of the 17th century. The cabinet we are presenting has eight small drawers on the front and a central door, each drawer of which is decorated with openwork scrolls, opening with lion's head handles. The box has a geometric decoration and is supported by two finely chiseled handles. These pieces of furniture were used to store collection pieces, gold coins, precious documents or jewelry. Furniture generally located in rooms called "Cabinet of Curiosities" of which the great Italian families were collectors. In good condition (crack, lifting, and small loss on the facade).
