Degeorge born in Lyon on March 31, 1837. He trained at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris where from 1858 he followed the teaching of Francisque Duret and François Jouffroy. He began at the Salon of 1864, of which he was made a medalist in 1872, 1875 and 1878. He created numerous decorations for prestigious monuments such as the Marsan pavilion (woman with a peacock on the Rivoli side facade) as well as the pediment of the Library Richelieu Nationale. He is the author of the four statues of the great men of Lyon of the Jacobins fountain erected in Lyon: Philibert Delorme, Gérard Audran, Guillaume Coustou and Hippolyte Flandrin.
He is also known as a medal engraver, creating numerous medals for public organizations (Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of War, etc.). His career as an academic sculptor was crowned in 1880 by the award of the Legion of Honor. He died in Paris in November 1888.
