"Mahogany Pedestal Table, Attributed To J.leleu, Art Deco – 1940"
Mahogany pedestal table, Art Deco, attributed to the famous French designer and decorator Jules-Emile Leleu (1883-1961). Decorated Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, Leleu is known for having notably designed the furnishing of large French liners and administrative buildings around the world. This circular shaped pedestal table has a vertical veneer belt. The recessed top forms a right angle. The underside is slightly molded and blackened. The “cruciform” shaft is made up of four elements joined together to form columns, the facades of which are half-round. The whole rests on a base, in the shape of a four-leaf clover, set with a chrome metal ring. This pedestal table with its sober but nevertheless atypical style will appeal to fans of Leleu creations. ******** Period: 1940 Excellent condition with its original varnish. Some marks of use.
