Polychrome ceramic, boating scene signed Auguste Adolphe Gontier (1876 living room), Montigny? This beautiful sized dish is decorated with a pleasant scene which recalls certain paintings from the Musée d'Orsay….The painter A. Gontier offers us a charming scene, careful in the details of the costumes and the boat. It is Madame who holds the oars, very elegant in a summer suit and her companion is more simply dressed in a sporty outfit. The impressionist landscape gives depth while the boat in the foreground draws the eye to a meeting scene...In perfect condition, this dish is a beautiful original document of fashion at that time.
