"A Patinated Bronze Inkwell In The Shape Of A Dragon, 19 Century."
A patinated bronze inkwell in the shape of a canoe representing a dragon. The boat resting on four legs is chiselled with scales and geometric patterns. Balls run along the edges of the inkwell; at the ends two receptacles for ink with their hinged lid having a flower for grip. Ideograms are engraved on the inner shell. The dragon boat is a type of canoe used to carry out races which are of legendary origin and practiced every year in China.
