Malicorne Earthenware Fruit Basket, 20th Century

In 1747, Jean Loiseau founded an earthenware factory in Sarthe. In addition to production reserved for domestic use (dishes, plates, roasting pans and other kitchen utensils), its skilled workers produce earthenware decorated in the style of Rouen and Nevers. From the end of the 18th and 19th centuries, two other earthenware factories added to the production of the first workshop. In addition to colorful pieces with rustic shapes, sometimes naive and often poetic, other openwork pieces made Malicorne famous. Above all, from 1924, the Malicorne Art Faïenceries took up the now classic motifs of great French or European earthenware from the 18th century. Refined, refined and delicate pieces come out of the factory's ovens, of which our fruit basket is particularly representative.
