Large gouache on paper by the official naval painter Fernand Herbo* (1905-1995) representing the port of Tréboul in Douarnenez, a charming town in Finistère inspired by many famous painters including Sérusier, Boudin, Renoir, Maufra, Picabia...and indeed the fame of many local painters such as René Quéré or Mathurin Méheut.Our painting must date from the 1950s-1960s, comes from a Normandy estate.
Good general condition, note foxing on the paper in the lower part, professional framing in good condition.
Large size, the gouache measures 63.5cm x 49 cm.

*Fernand Herbo is a painter and lithographer from Montmartre established in Honfleur (Calvados), born in Orchies on March 28, 1905 and died in Équemauville on the 21st August 1995.
He was appointed painter of the National Navy in 1944.
