"Mahogany Chest Console, Empire – Early 19th Century"
Rare high-profile console in mahogany and mahogany veneer opening at the top with two large identical drawers that pull out with authentic “bowl” buttons chiseled in bronze. Each drawer is closed with an original lock accompanied by a later key in working order. The top of this piece of furniture, in solid mahogany, has a miter-cut frame with a sloping shape below. This tall element is highlighted by a projecting molding with a square and a slope. The sides are made up of two parts in burl mahogany and mahogany wire. This block is supported on four cylindrical columns in burl mahogany veneer widening towards the bottom. These columns are decorated with a bronze ring with meticulous ornamentation in the upper part and a chiseled collar in the lower part. The whole rests on a base with a solid plinth.
