Alexandre Bigot trained as a scientist before turning to ceramics. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon de la Société Nationales des Beaux-Arts in 1894, and the following year took part in the inaugural exhibition of La Maison de l'Art Nouveau.
Through Siegrind Bing, he collaborated with Edward Colonna, who created mounts for some of his vases.
In 1897, Alexandre Bigot founded his company A. Bigot et Cie. Along with Emile Muller, he became one of the main players in architectural ceramics, and his triumph was the Porte Monumentale at the 1900 Exposition Universelle with the young Paul Jouve.
Alexandre Bigot is a key player in the ceramics world, collaborating with numerous artists and architects.
