"Views Of Rome, 19th Century."
This pair of gouaches representing views of Rome is dated 1842. One is a view of the Forum of Rome with the Arch of Septimius Severus on the left, the Temple of Saturn on the right and in the center the Temple of Vespasian, the another from inside the Colosseum. They are the work of a certain Di Filippi and although we have not found any information about him, the quality of execution, worthy of the art of a miniaturist, is indisputable. This charming set has retained its original freshness. it is framed by a small modern black lacquered baguette. Mid-19th century. Each view measures 10.5cm x 13.5cm, and each frame 26.5cm x 20.5cm.
