Stylus With Its Sheath
Corsica, France, 19th century 
Steel, silver, nickel silver, wood, mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshell
Total length: 29.5 cm; Length of stylus: 29 cm
Blade length: 18.4 cm; Heel width: 2.1 cm
(restoration to scabbard)

Acid-etched steel blade with one edge and counter-edge, acid-etched, ringed nut, small thumb.
Four-sided diamond-shaped wooden handle inlaid with tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl, punctuated by four twisted silver columns. Nickel silver bolster and ferrule, the latter cut into palmettes.
Red leather-covered wooden scabbard with two cut-out nickel silver fittings, ring and chain.
